Attractions for the young and young-at-heart are set to be on offer on Sunday 12 September 2010 in Old Amersham High Street and Church Mead

Clowns, an animal farm, Punch and Judy, balloon modelling, face painting, classic car display, free vintage buses running from the Fair Organ Museum in Plantation Road to Whielden Street, (sponsored by the Amersham Society), Workaid, National Trust, BBOWT, Chiltern Society, Amersham in Transition, craft demonstrations including bee keeping, chair caning, textile embroidery, spinning and weaving are booked for Amersham Heritage Open Day.  The event promoted by English Heritage, aims to encourage visitors to see the best of the country's unique legacy of historic buildings, landscapes and archaeological sites..  Buildings will be open to the public, craft workers will show their skills and representatives from civic organisations including the Amersham Society will be present.  Morris Men, the Doyle Dancers and a bouncy castle will also provide family entertainment during the day's activities, which take place between 11am and 5pm. 

Places opening their doors include the Drake Chapel, St Mary's Church, the Quaker Meeting House, the Methodist Church and King's Church.  Refreshments will be provided by Amersham Townswomen's Guild upstairs in the Market Hall, in aid of Shed @ The Park and the Bensheim and Krynica Town Twinning Societies will be running their hot dog stall near the Memorial Gardens in the High Street.

The Amersham Museum in the High Street will be open from 11am with half price entry fee and free organised guided walks around the Town.  They are also running their popular Amersham Martyr's Walk at 11.30am and again at 2.15pm.

The Amersham Band will be playing in the Memorial Gardens from 2.30pm providing an opportunity to sit down and enjoy some music and light refreshments will be provided by Seasons Catering in the kiosk.  Mark Jones, Town Crier of Amersham will be present to assist in making this an enjoyable afternoon

London Transport Museum will have Sarah Siddons and the 1938 stock running.  Journeys will be running between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham Station.  You can then pick up the free vintage bus service running between the Fair Organ Museum in Plantation Road and Whielden Street in Old Amersham.  Sarah Siddons was built in 1922 and is the last operational Metropolitan Railway electric locomotive; the only surviving working engine out of 20 built by Metropolitan Vickers. There will be a road closure in operation from the Market Hall, along the High Street until Mill Lane from 11am until 5pm.
