Amersham Town Carol Service
Amersham Town Carol Service will be held on Wednesday 7 December 2011 at 7.30pm at St Mary’s Church, Old Amersham by kind invitation of Reverend Tim Harper and the clergy. Carols will be sung by Amersham A Cappella and the choirs from St George’s Church of England Infant School and St Mary's C of E Primary School, accompanied by the Amersham Band. Everyone is invited to this popular Christmas event. Wine and mince pies will be served in the church afterwards. The collection will be in aid of Bucks Young Carers which is the Mayor’s Cllr Mrs M Harker, OBE chosen charity for this service. Bucks Young Carers currently support approx 500 young carers aged 5-18 years throughout Bucks who care or help to care for a relative within the family home. Many of these children lose out on childhood experiences as they have adopted more mature roles and responsibilities. There may also be financial limitations, time constraints and other barriers which mean that they are less able to socialise and develop. The charity provides respite by way of monthly activities and clubs where they can meet Young Carers in similar situations
