AMERSHAM TOWN COUNCIL STRIKES GOLD YET AGAIN……….

Amersham Town Council are DELIGHTED to announce that we have been awarded the inaugural “BEST PLAY INITIATIVE” award at this year’s Fields in Trust Awards Ceremony held at Lords Cricket Ground on Wednesday 2nd December 2015.

The awards were hosted by BBC sports and news broadcaster Ore Oduba to celebrate the achievements of Fields in Trust and its partners, who have worked over the last year to ensure that everyone has access to protected outdoor recreational space. Deputy Mayor, Councillor Mark Vivis and Councillor Tony Williams were at the ceremony to collect the award on behalf of Amersham Town Council.

The category of “Best Play Initiative” was whittled down from around 40 nominees to 3 shortlisted candidates, with Amersham coming out on top as overall winners! King George V Playing Field was nominated in part due to the introduction of the recently refurbished Infant Playground. The judging panel were particularly impressed with the variety of inclusive play equipment such as the easy access roundabout and wheelchair friendly trampoline.

We would like to thank our playground contractor, Playground Facilities for putting together such a fantastic design, as well as our steering group made up of local Amersham residents who scrutinized the designs and gave some invaluable feedback to help us develop this wonderful community space!
